Support & Self-help Groups (ACT)

Pre-booking for groups at Directions Woden isn’t required.

If it’s your first time attending, arrive a few minutes early to meet the facilitator, make a cup of tea or coffee and get settled.

TUESDAYS

SMART Recovery 10:30am – 12:00pm

SMART is a facilitated self-help group for people facing substance dependence and focuses on cognitive behaviour therapy. The four main principles of SMART are motivation to abstain, coping with urges, lifestyle balance and problem solving.

Meditation & Mindfulness 4:00pm – 5:00pm

Meditation and mindfulness is a facilitated group focusing on breathwork, progressive muscle relaxation and visualisation techniques. Wear something you’re comfortable in, bring a towel or small blanket if you can and arive 10 minutes early to get a cup of herbal tea and get comfortable.

COMPASS Family Support 5:30pm – 7:30pm

COMPASS is a facilitated group for people impacted by a family member or friend’s alcohol, tobacco and other drug use. It’s an opportunity to have a voice about the issues you’re experiencing. The group focuses on self-care and setting boundaries when supporting someone with substance dependence.

COMPASS runs fortnightly – call us to find out if COMPASS is running this week.

WEDNESDAYS

Women’s SMART Recovery 11:00am – 12:30pm

Online SMART Recovery 2:00pm – 3:30pm

SMART is a facilitated self-help group for people facing substance dependence and focuses on cognitive behaviour therapy. The four main principles of SMART are motivation to abstain, coping with urges, lifestyle balance and problem solving.

This is an online group – click here to register. Once registered, you will receive an email and a link to join which can be accessed on Wednesday’s at 2pm.

FRIDAYS

ADAPT 10:30am – 12:00pm

ADAPT is a group program designed for people considering change regarding their substance use and exploring their options. ADAPT is comprised of 2 sessions (A & B) providing education around the impact of substance use and strategies for change. A certificate will be provided on completion of both sessions. Give our office a call to find out which session is running this week.
