Althea Wellness Centre

Althea Wellness Centre is a specialist primary health clinic providing GP, nursing, psychiatry, psychology, pharmacology and counselling services for individuals and their families impacted by current or past alcohol and other drug use, mental health and other complex health and wellbeing issues.

Althea’s primary care services include, but aren’t limited to: general health care, immunisations, vein care, sexual health checks, chronic disease management, opioid replacement therapy, wound management, medication reviews, blood borne virus screening and treatment, support to reduce or cease smoking, priority referral to ACT Dental Services and referral to other specialist services.

Mobile outreach services are also provided on a drop-in basis to a variety of locations across the ACT utilising Chat to PAT mobile clinic, and through in-reach to other organisations.

All services provided by Althea Wellness Centre are free of charge. If you have one, please bring along your Medicare card.

Appointments

Appointments are available Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm at our Woden ACT office. It’s important to confirm all appointments or call us to cancel if you’re unable to attend. We SMS or phone clients to confirm appointments or follow up results, so please let us know if your contact details change. Urgent appointments are available based on assessment.

After Hours

HealthDirect can be contacted for 24hr health information and advice on 1800 022 222.

13SICK (National Home Doctor Service) can be contacted for non-urgent medical assistance after hours on 137 425 (13SICK).

CALMS (Canberra Afterhours Locum Medical Service) can be contacted to see a GP after hours on 1300 422 567.

For all emergencies, please attend the Canberra or North Canberra Hospital Emergency Departments or dial 000.
